This video will help you to understand the slavery-like conditions that they are currently subjected to under the sponsorship system.

On Tuesday 18th of December, International Migrants Day, Insan Association, Anti-Racism Movement and Kafa (Enough) Violence and Exploitation, collaborated with migrant domestic workers in Lebanon to document their dreams for a more just society where their voices are heard and their rights are protected by law.

The sponsorship system is a set of practices and regulations that legally ties migrant domestic workers to one employer for their residence and work permits for the duration of their contract. The sponsorship system creates dependency and a master/slave relationship between the domestic workers and their employers and is unjust for everyone.

في هذا اليوم من هذه السنة، قامت مؤسسة إنسان بالشراكة مع كفى عنف وإستغلال وحركة مناهضة العنصرية وبعض العاملات المهاجرات المنزليات في لبنان بتوثيق أحلامهن بمستقبل أجمل وأعدل في هذا البلد… مستقبل في مجتمع يسمع مطالبهن ويعمل على صياغة قوانين تحميهن وتصون كرامتهن.

يسلِّط هذا الفيديو الضوء على الأوضاع الاستعبادية التي تعيشها معظم العاملات المنزليات في لبنان بسبب نظام الكفالة.

الكفالة هي مجموعة نظم إداريّة وممارسات تربط إقامة عاملة المنزل المهاجرة وإجازة عملها بصاحب عمل واحد طيلة مدّة العقد. إنّ هذا النظام مجحف بحقّ العاملة وكذلك صاحب العمل، كما أنّه يؤسس لعلاقة استعباد.

-يكرّس هذا النظام تبعيّة العاملة لصاحب العمل من خلال ربط إجازتي إقامتها وعملها به، ومنعها من الانتقال إلى عمل آخر من دون تنازل رسمي منه
