Achrafieh 2020 is bringing us its 5th Car-free day in Monot-Huvelin with Discover Monot-Huvelin in cooperation with L’Amicale de la Faculté de Droit de l’USJ, hoping to “to celebrate the St Joseph day and shed awareness around a Cleaner & Healthier living.

As with the previous “Discover Gemmayze” day covered here, the streets will be closed this Sunday March the 30th from 10 am to 6pm to allow you to imagine a different Achrafieh, one that is car-free and living, as opposed to the car-full and dying that we are used to.

If you haven’t been to an Achrafieh2020 event yet, allow me to describe it as such: “It’s one of the few opportunities you’ll get to really picture an Achrafieh that is bustling with life.” To quote a friend of mine at the previous Gemmayze one: “No one is angry, everyone is actually happy.” And that’s not an understatement. We’ve grown too used to seeing everyone angry, driving through a congested traffic that only seems to get worse every year, that most of us have forgotten than an alternative is actually possible.

Activities expected: Cycling, Zumba, Art Display, Street Performers, Mouné, Wine Exhibition, DJ’s, Musicians, Bands, Children Playground, Food Court and many more are planned.

Previous Car-free days were held in Achrafieh, Mar Mikhael, Rmeil/Geitawi, and Gemmayzeh. I’ll be there and will upload photographs Sunday evening. You can RSVP here.
