Album of the Month

Roger Fakhr’s “Fine Anyway” was rediscovered by Habibi Funk, and I’m very grateful for that. I got my hands on the Vinyl and I’ve been really enjoying it. In a write-up on the album, Bandcamp’s Shy Thompson noted how Habibi Funk was struck by “the gulf between the regard for Fakhr among those who knew him and the inability to find out anything about him for those who didn’t”. Unfortunately, Fakhr is neither the first nor last of Lebanon’s artists that have been ignored or forgotten in a ‘postwar’ culture so keen on forgetting everything. I had a similar revelation when I discovered The Seaders after reading Project Revolver’s 2013 profile on them.

So anyway, here is Fine Anyway by Roger Fakhr. I’ve found it on Spotify, Bandcamp, YouTube etc. so look it up wherever you listen and you’ll probably find it.

Habib Funk also released this interview with Roger 🙂
