Ahmad Abbous on Lebanon
This is a video well worth watching for every Lebanese out there.
There isn’t much to say here. Ahmad Abbous lost his two granddaughters and his son to the terrorist bombings in Tripoli 2 days ago. And yet instead of advocating for even more violence hatred, Mr. Abbous is calling for a full stop of the violence.
For the non-Arabic speakers. I haven’t found an English translation yet, but I’ll keep on looking.
Update: Thank You Nadine for providing a brief English explanation (in the comments below)
“Telling his painful story to the media: Taking care of his 3 grand children after the death of both of their parents , the kids ask their grandfather one day to take them to the beach and were counting the days to go, on that day they packed an went to the beach an had a great time, their grandfather decides that its time for him to attend the Friday prayer so he rushes to find the nearest mosque and being late he couldn’t find parking anywhere so he parks his van outside the mosque entrance and leaves his 3 grand children in the car , minutes later a big explosion rocks the mosque , the grandfather with few scars on his body runs to find his car on fire he tries to get inside so can save the kids …but he couldn’t and felt hopeless running around and asking people “help ” help” save my kids , later on he finds that all of his 3 grandchildren were burnt to death.”
Update: A few points were corrected below.
“About the translation above. The man is a grandfather of two kids. Their dad passed away about 45 days ago and their mum was living back with her father that man. The third child was that man’s son. His name was Mohamed and he was intellectually disabled living at a special needs school. That man’s wife died in 2005 after they put Mohamed at the special needs school in a car accident. Ahmad was bedridden for a year as a result of the accident. So basically he lost his wife in a car accident a few years back, then lost his intellectually disabled son and two grandchildren in the bombing. His daughter lost a husband a month and a half ago and now her two children.
Heart breaking if there ever was anything heartbreaking.
I try and share interesting things on Twitter, so you can follow me if you want. Cheers!
